"Transplant
the Beauty of the Outdoors into your Home"
Care Summary
Watering:
Check the planting daily to see if it needs water. If it feels dry, set the
container in a basin of water allowing water to saturate the soil.
Location
& Light: Need 2-3 hours of sunlight daily if possible. If not, use plant
light for longer hours. Although the plants require direct sunlight, make sure
they are not located too close to the window, at least put them 2-3 feet away
from the window. Some plantings prefer better air circulation and higher
humidity. A humidity tray is good under your plants or trees and make sure they
do not sit in water. The pebbles on your planting humidity tray are a good way
to keep the pot above water level.
Fertilizing: Apply plant food every 3-4 weeks or more frequent.
Houseplant fertilizer is applicable.
Maintenance: Trim away new growths every week to maintain its shape and compact
form.
The Care for Miniature Bonsai
Nature's Highlight Plantings are live plants or trees grown in
miniature containers. Although these plants have been trained and nurtured to
be small, they will eventually grow large after some time if left without
trimming or shaping. Unless they are intended for larger size bonsai that are
needed to be transplanted into larger container, otherwise, all new growths
have to be trimmed away in order to maintain the shape and small size.
Nature's Highlight
Plantings do well in a minimum of 2-3 hours of direct sunlight and other hours
of diffused light with moderately moist soil, with average home temperatures
between 55 - 80°F (13 - 27°C). Although each container has a hole that
promotes drainage, it is important that the plants are not to be over watered.
When in doubt, determine the need by simply feeling the soil; cool and moist
soil indicates a proper amount of water. The rate of growth is also dependant
upon the amount of light received; the less light received, the slower the rate
of growth. However, be careful not to place the plantings in somewhere
completely out of sunlight.
For healthier
growth, a balanced fertilizer can be added to the soil on a 3-4 weeks basis,
(see fertilizer package instructions for appropriate mixing ratios). With
proper fertilizing, the plants will remain lush and green. Tip: yellowing
leaves are an indication of either a lack of nutrients or inappropriate
watering (too much or not enough).
An assortment of flowering
plants may be added to our spring and holiday arrangements. Depending on what
plantings you would receive, some are harder to be taken care indoors than
others. Please make sure you ask before purchase. Nevertheless, this is worth
mention here that our plantings and arrangements may definitely last longer
than flora arrangements or even many bonsai trees that are commercially
available. We also offer the monthly subscription discount plan for the
plantings so that your home will always be delighted by this living art of
miniature.
